Guitar Finger Exercise For Total Beginners

If you’re just starting out on guitar and don’t to know where to begin, try this simple finger exercise. It won’t sound like you’re playing a song but it will get your fingers moving across the fingerboard. It will also help you to develop some calluses on your fingertips. Even if your guitar is out of tune (see my blog on tuning the guitar) you can still practice this exercise.

 1. Start with your first finger at the first fret on the lowest string.

2. Play each note on that string one at a time using fingers 1 2 3 4.

3. Then go to the next string.

4. Now try going in reverse. Start on the highest string and play 4 3 2 1.

on each string going back down.

I hope this helps,
